This year’s GAMMA workshop is all about the movement as a biomarker and its added value for clinical and scientific practice. In workshops, we delve into the problem of biomarker identification in neurology, discuss challenges and explore possible solutions. Our focus is on the requirements for movement analysis in neurology, the presentation of practical applications and case studies, and the added value of movement analysis outside clinical settings.

The field of neurogeriatrics is dedicated to older people and patients with neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease. The workshop will provide a comprehensive insight into surgical and therapeutic approaches aimed at improving the quality of life. As a center for movement disorders, we can provide in-depth insights into complex solution approaches such as “focused ultrasound” and “deep brain stimulation”. There is also the opportunity to visit the neurology wards.

Experience a varied program with specialist lectures, case studies and tutorials. Get a comprehensive insight into gait and motion analysis systems as well as the latest product innovations for clinical practice and discuss current trends with colleagues and experts.

In three practice-oriented courses on EEG and gait analysis, movement analysis in everyday clinical practice and Python programming, you can acquire basic knowledge and try out the technologies yourself. MATLAB (The Mathwork Inc., Natick, United States) is available largely free of charge in academic institutions, but not necessarily in clinics. Python, as a free, open-source tool, is gaining more and more importance, but it could be intimidating for movement scientists and clinicians without a computer science background. Therefore, we propose a workshop to support the community in migrating to Python and address Python-based biomechanical models such as PyCGM2, openOFM, the NeuroGeriatricMotionToolbox (NGMT), and the Gait and Movement Analysis Package (gaitmap).
